Musician, arranger, and AFCM docent John Cain and his wife Katie plan to help manage The Jazz Society of Ecuador for the next year. John will be missed during our next concert season. Ron Bierman managed to catch him for an interview before left. See part II (note, the previously published first part is below part II) here.

AFCM Advisory Council
The first two meetings of the AFCM Advisory Council resulted in a number of worthwhile suggestions on a variety of important subjects including docent and board member recruiting, making more effective use of social media, and new approaches to publicity. The council has scheduled a third meeting to discuss fund raising opportunities.
Advisory Council membership can be seen here.

The Great American Songbook
Toward the close of 2013 members returned to 98 Bottles in downtown San Diego and again enjoyed the talents of John Cain and Katy Cat who appear regularly at many clubs and cafes in San Diego and Northern California. The theme this time was The Great American Songbook, and the show included an enjoyable sing-along of "As Time Goes By" and other old favorites.

In addition to John and Katy, the previous 98 Bottles party showcased the musicianship of several AFCM members in a caberet format.
The party was organized by our Events Chair Joann Corder and Mimi Lee. Aveline von Ehrenberg kicked things off a la Joel Grey. This slide show captures some of the fun. (Photos courtesy Michael Orenich.)
